You’ve probably see Baltimore duo Beach House just about everywhere this week. That’s because the band released its second full-length Devotion on Tuesday. To add to that excitement, the band also grabbed the coveted ‘Best New Music’ title from Pitchfork this week, landed Rolling Stone’s “Breaking” feature, enjoyed ‘Song of the Day’ status on NPR, and were Paste Magazine’s ‘Band of the Week’.
Beach House uploaded its new video for “Heart Of Chambers” to the web last night. Pitchfork, Stereogum, and others ran the video the second it hit the web, but if you haven’t seen it go HERE and check it out. Alistair Legrand, brother to band member Victoria, directed the video.
The band launched its US tour with The Papercuts last night in its hometown of Baltimore. Popular blogs and local hotspots will be giving away tickets and a number of other special prizes leading up to the shows. The fine folks over at Pitchfork gave their two cents on Luke Temple's Snowbeast this past Friday-- giving the album a whopping 7.4 out of a total 10 points!
Here's some of what they had to say:
"a variety of romanticized and alienated imagery that's snatched straight from a time when squares were there to be looked at and made strange... Temple's various gifts amplify each other." - Pitchfork (7.4)
